Obituary Barbara Stewart-Miller January 5, 2024 On December 28th, 2023 Barbara Stewart Miller passed away from us at the age of 73. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, retail clothing manager, bank manager, business owner, and church member. Furthermore Barbara was fun loving with travel, music listening, dancing at the top of her favorite things list. Barbara Ann was born on October 23, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois to Betty Jane Stewart and Edward Luke Stewart. She was the oldest of three children and enjoyed an early childhood in Chicago among numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. In 1955, her family moved to Los Angeles where she attended Ascension Elementary and Saint Michael's High School. Tragically, she lost her youngest brother, Ronald to leukemia in 1966. She was an avid volleyball player and choir member. After attending Harbor College, Barbara took on fashion retailing as a store manager. Later in 1976, she moved up to branch operations management at United California Bank. Never to settle in one position for too long, she went on to open her own child care business in Vista, California. She married Harold Miller in January of 1977 and they left Los Angeles to settle in San Diego County. She and Harold had two children. Harold Miller Jr. was born in May of 1979 and Steven Carl Edward Miller was born in 1986. Starting in 2008, Barbara was quite elated to be the grandmother of Steven Florian Miller and later, of Noah Gibson Miller. Barbara's mother lives in Carlsbad and her brother, Carl, lives in Altadena, California. She has extended family living in Louisiana, Illinois, northern California and Washington. Barbara was quite active in the Saint Thomas More Catholic Church choir. She was also a Eucharist minister and a strong supporter of the parish's affinity groups and societies. We salute Barbara for living a life in the light of Christ. Bless her for she was dedicated to her church and community. Moreover bless her as she was a devoted wife and loving mother. We will miss her dearly. Barbara's service will be on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church located at 1450 S. Melrose Drive, Oceanside, California 92056. There will be an interment at the Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, on January 17, 2024 at 9:15 A.M. The address is 5975 Nobel Dr., San Diego, CA. 92122.
