GSGT Gustavo Luevano USMC (Ret)

Gustavo Luevano April 12, 1946 – September 3, 2024 On the afternoon of September 3, 2024 Gustavo (Gus) Luevano took his final breath at his home in Vista , California and awoke in the heavens of the Lord. Gus was born in Mission, Texas to Miguel and Felix Luevano. He was the oldest of 10 siblings. He joined the Marine Corp in 1963 and retired in 1978 as a Gunnery Sergeant. After the Marines, he moved back home in Pomona, CA to spread the Gospel to his family. During that time, he worked at the United States Postal Service and retired as a supervisor. After his postal retirement he worked in the mission field and served Jesus in Mexico and Philippines. His last missionary trip was in the Philippines where his health took a downturn and led to his passing on September 3, 2024. Gus is survived by his wife Dora Lydia Luevano, a wife of 57 years and a Marine Veteran. He also is survived by the following: 1) Three daughters, Maria Pritchard, Janette Pritchard and Theresa Cowan. 2) 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. 3) Sister Eva Bomar and 4 brothers, Ben Luevano, Joey Luevano, Jaime Luevano and Miguel Luevano. Gus’s favorite things to do were drive his truck, shoot and collect guns, and putt around in his garage finding various things to fix or make better. Isaiah 45:1-3 This is what the LORD says to his anointed, to Cyrus (GUS), whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armor, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut: I will go before you and will level the mountains ] ; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name. The viewing will be on September 17, 2024 from 3pm to 7pm at Magallon Funeral Home located at 1421 N Santa Fe Ave, Vista, CA 92084. The Eulogy will be at 5 pm. Sandwiches will be provided. On September 18, 2024 at 11:15 am. - Military burial at Miramar National Cemetery located at 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122. Note: The Military burial is a strict 30 minutes, burial will start at 11:15 sharp --be in Lane 2 between 10:50 am and 11 am. Lunch after the Ceremony to be announced at the burial. Please join us to remember a great husband, father, brother, and grandpa.
